Cities offer a great view of how people live around the world, but do little to showcase any natural beauty a country might have to offer. An excursion to a National Park typically requires a full day, or even several days however it is often very rewarding. You may see something that is unique throughout the world such as a special landscape, sunset, animal or plant. For those who love the outdoors these are often the most cherished memories.

Visiting national parks is an extra special experience but at the cost of adding significant time to the journey. Consider adding one or two of these to your itinerary because you won't regret it, however you have to be careful how much time and money will add, unfortunate but true. For the park's you do decide to check out you will be rewarded by seeing the smaller towns and villages as you make the journey there as well as the park's highlights.


A couple of additional notes: I've added the nearest city and expected time it will take. I have only included places my top 50 countries list so they can be consider optionals expeditions. I have also not included parks that would take several weeks to explore such as a multi day hike on basis that you should consider a separate journey in it's own right. Another reason is that you would need to bring special equipment and clothes for some adventures and that would affect what you need carry. These are parks can all be comfortably visited from the cities suggested in my world journey.
